Revelation
by Paul D. Fisher

John, the apostle, by the inspiration of God, wrote this last book of the New Testament. It is a book of prophecy that was to shortly be fulfilled. The church was about to enter into a period of persecution, the likes of which it had never witnessed before. This persecution would last for several years and the Christians needed to know that Christ was indeed victorious so that they COuld stand faithfully during this period.

Many people through the centuries have looked at this book as a type of foretelling book. They want to know when Jesus is coming again and they think this book gives hints to when that second coming is going to happen. This view clearly ignores plain Bible teaching on the subject of Jesus' second coming which plainly explains that there will be no signs, nothing to give away when His coming will take place. The Bible teaches, even in this book, that Jesus second coming will be like a thief in the night. In other words, we do not know when it will occur any more than we know when a thief is going to break into our houses.

Some people take various passages of Revelation out of COntext and out of the realm of figurative language, in which it was written, and try to place a literal interpretation to them. They do this to try and push false doctrines.
