Today Is Mother's Day
(by Paul D. Fisher) 5/14/00

As I watch my daughter and wife take care of my grandson I am ever impressed with the great care and love that is seen in their eyes and actions. God truly knew what He was doing when He created woman to be the help meet for man. No matter how much love, no matter how gentle a father or a grandfather can be, it cannot hold a candle to a mother or grandmother. How precious indeed is that woman who is a godly and loving mother or gradmother. How much better off society is because of you!

God directed the Holy Spirit, through the apostle Paul, in the writing of 2 Timothy 1:5 to give special tribute to Timothy's mother and gmndmother. "When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also."

I appreciate all the mothers who have been faithful to their calling. I want all the girls and young ladies of our congregation to look at the wonderful examples of faithful mothers and grandmothers that we have. Please everyone, take seriously the wonderful role that is given to mothers and grandmothers. One single mother can influence the world if she will give herself completely to the task of motherhood!

Today is Mother's Day. It is a man-made holiday, but everyone, always remember your mother. She is special, if for no other reason than she is your mom! May we remember the words of King Lemuel that were taught to him by his mother.
" Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies." (Pr 31:10) " Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.  Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised." (Pr 31: 28-30).

May God bless you mothers and grandmothers!
