Hebrews
by Paul D. Fisher
Hebrews, the epistle, points out that being a Christian was and is so much better than being a Jew. The theme of this epistle is Jesus is Superior! The human penman remains a mystery which is fitting since the epistle's purpose is to exalt Christ. It was written to Jewish Christians encouraging them not to apostatize by returning to Judaism.

This epistle challenges us to be faithful to Jesus regardless of the cost. The complacency and lukewarmness of many modem Christians is rocked by its exhortations! Our faith is confronted by its message. We, too, are warned against becoming too comfortable with our secular world.
Hebrews reminds us that only Jesus Christ is fully adequate to provide our needs.

Jesus is superior in many ways to the Old Law. He is superior to the prophets; to angels, to Moses, Joshua, Aaron and Melchizedek. Jesus is superior because in Him, and through Him, we enjoy a better covenant. Jesus is also superior to any, and all, human high priests because He has a better temple ministry by bringing a superior sacrifice in the very presence of God! Because Jesus is superior, His followers are inspired to a superior faith because He inspires",
a superior strength through faith. Jesus is able to do ali of this because He inspires a superior love! Do you love Jesus?

Looking For That Which Is Better",
by Paul D. Fisher",

In the book of Philippians, the apostle Paul wrote, "It is far better to depart and be with Christ (Philippians 1:23). He encourages Christians to look for that which is better; for the better things of Christ are those things which endure! The word "better" comes from a Greek root word which means "strong." This word is used thirteen times in the book of Hebrews and it indicates that which is advantageous or useful and also that which is excellent. Some of the uses in Hebrews include the fact that Jesus is better [ ,. ;he angels (Hebrews 1:4). Because of Jesus Christ, we as Christians have a better hope, a better testament, a better covenant, based upon better promises. This is all possible because Christ was a better sacrifice than all the blood of bulls and goats that had been saorificed.

As Christians we are reminded in this epistle to look for that same better country
that Abrahang Isaac and Jacob looked for. We need to realize that we are looking for
that heavenly city whose builder and maker is God. To this end, because of God's Son's
sacrifice, we as Christians can have a better resurrection. But, we must be looking,
actively lookins! While Jesus was on the earth He warned His followers many times
that He would reward only those who were diligently looking for His return. Those
servants who were awake and ready to open the door when the master returned were the
ones who were rewarded and those who were not were cast into outer darkness. Are
you looking for that which is better?
