Do You Get Along with the World? 3/19/00
                                         by Paul Fisher
Do you get along with the world, those that are not religious? Are you persecuted for your religious stace on the gospel? Do your religious friends and neighbors have any trouble with your defense of the gospel? If you answered "No" to any one or all of these questions, then maybe you need to take a good look at your life and what you are to make a stand for. The apostle John said not to be upset when you are persecuted and hated by the world.

Christians must understand that if you stand for the truth of the gospel, the world will hate you. Jesus said in Mat 5:14"Ye are the light of the world..." Those who are in darkness of the world cannot tolerate the light of the gospel living and shining on their works of darkness.

How does one stand for the truth? First, one must know the truth and understand the Bible. To do this one must obey God's word:"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (2Ti 2:15)
Second, stand ready to give a Bible answer for your life.  "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:" (1Pe 3:15) Third, be set for the defense of the gospel: "But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel." (Phlp 1:17) This means defend truth anywhere you hear error being taught, whether at school, work, or the ball field. Fourth, obey God at all times: "  Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men." (Acts 5:29) If you do these things the world will hate you, but the reward is worth the price.
