Christians must understand that if you stand for the truth of the gospel, the world will hate you. Jesus said in Mat 5:14"Ye are the light of the world..." Those who are in darkness of the world cannot tolerate the light of the gospel living and shining on their works of darkness.
How does one stand for the truth?
First, one must know the truth and understand the Bible. To do this one
must obey God's word:"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman
that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (2Ti
2:15)
Second, stand ready to give a Bible
answer for your life. "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts:
and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason
of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:" (1Pe 3:15) Third, be
set for the defense of the gospel: "But the other of love, knowing that
I am set for the defence of the gospel." (Phlp 1:17) This means defend
truth anywhere you hear error being taught, whether at school, work, or
the ball field. Fourth, obey God at all times: " Then Peter and the
other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men."
(Acts 5:29) If you do these things the world will hate you, but the reward
is worth the price.
