Is it Just a Letterhead?
by Paul D. Fisher

Have you ever noticed the different sayings that appear on letterheads?  They almost always deal with some aspect of the business for which they appear. On our letterhead, just as on today's bulletin is the saying "New Testament Christianity For the 21st Century."

What does this phrase say about us? Does it simply mean that we are Christians living in the 21st century or does it say more?  It should be a declaration to all who see it that we are striving to be Christians; that we are trying to follow just the New Testament in the 21st century. To some, this seems to be an outdated book to be following, yet we believe that this book is God inspired and therefore never outdated.

As 21st century Christians we are striving to "Speak where the Bible speaks and keep silent where the Bible is silent." We follow no creed but the Bible. We have no earthly headquarters, because our head is our Lord Jesus Christ who reigns from heaven. Our banner is the cross on which our Savior died.

The challenge for us is not to let this become just a phrase on our letter! Are you up to the challenge?
